Getting job experience and having a work place that was able to work with my school hours is what Faith Slusher says was the greatest benefit of participating in the Out of School Youth program.

She enrolled into the program with no previous work experience, and was eligible to participate in the work experience portion of the program. Faith also began taking college courses shortly after enrolling into the program, and needed a work site placement that could accommodate her school schedule. She was placed at Salon Avenue, a local hair salon where she completed her 320 work hours as a receptionist.

When asked what her favorite part of the program was Faith responded, “Knowing that there is always someone there if you need anything or are having trouble getting to where you need to be in life."  Faith also encourages others to participate in the program if eligible because, “They make what seems impossible, possible!”

After completing the work program Faith obtained employment with Dr. Kumar’s office in Barbourville, KY where she is currently employed, and plans to continue her education to become a Registered Nurse.
