KCEOC Community Action Partnership is seeking a qualified individual to fill an Americorps Service Position. AmeriCorps is not employment; rather, it is an opportunity to complete service work in a challenging field while receiving a very modest annual living allowance ($13,992 gross) and an educational award ($6,095). Those who qualify may also receive health insurance and childcare assistance, if eligible. Training and professional development are also provided.
Successful candidates shall possess a high school diploma/GED or be actively working toward a GED; work experience in human services, sociology, social work, psychology, or similar field is a plus. Candidates shall have a working knowledge of office computer programs; candidates shall be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
The chosen Americorp Member will be working at KCEOC’s Ryan’s Place Crisis Center, serving homeless youth (ages 18-24). Duties will include, but are not limited to, helping clients secure permanent housing, as well as providing financial literacy, employment training, coordinate life skills, assist landlord/tenant relations and tenant right’s training, informing the community on Ryan’s place, providing outreach, address client needs, and other related duties necessary to meet Member requirements.
